Terms of Use

Holy Root helps you capture, organize and reflect on scripture during worship, on iPhone, Android and at holyroot.app. Features change as we improve the product; we may add, alter or withdraw them, and we'll tell you before anything you rely on goes away.

You need an account, and you must be old enough to hold one where you live, at minimum 13. One account is for one person; don't share your sign-in.

Your notes, reflections and captured verses are yours. We claim no ownership of them. You grant us only the licence we need to run the service: to store your content, sync it between your devices, encrypt and decrypt your reflections, generate study insights when you ask for them, and show a note to a circle when you choose to share it.

That licence exists to operate Holy Root and nothing else. We do not sell your content, publish it, or use it to train models.

A circle is a private group: a church, a study group, or a few friends. Notes stay private to you unless you deliberately share one with a circle you belong to. What you share, other members can read.

There is no tolerance for abuse

By using Holy Root you agree not to share content that is abusive, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, violent or threatening, that infringes someone else's rights, or that is spam or a scam. You agree not to harass, impersonate or endanger another member.

We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Every shared note can be reported from inside the app, reports are reviewed within 24 hours, and content that breaks these rules is removed. We may suspend or permanently remove an account that posts it, without notice, and without a refund of any unused subscription time.

You can also block any member from the app: their notes disappear from every circle you share with them, and you can undo it from the You tab. Reporting and blocking are described in full on the support page, and you can always reach a person at support@holyroot.app.

General misuse

Don't attempt unauthorized access, interfere with the service, scrape it, or use it for anything unlawful.

Holy Root Premium is an auto-renewing subscription offered on two billing periods:

• Annual$44.99/year, renews every year until canceled
• Monthly$6.99/month, renews every month until canceled

Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation. Subscription automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your device account settings.

New subscribers start with a free trial where the store offers one; eligibility is decided by Apple or Google, not by us, and the app shows you the real terms before you confirm. Prices shown are US dollars; your store charges its own local price, including tax.

Cancellation and refunds are handled by the store that took your payment, not by us. Both paths are set out on the support page.

Passage text is licensed from our Bible provider and remains the property of its publishers. The translation a passage is served in is shown with it; where your preferred translation isn't licensed to us, the app says which one you got.

Study insights and historical context are generated by an AI model and are labelled as such wherever they appear. They are study aids for personal use. They can be wrong, and they are not scripture, doctrine, pastoral counsel, or professional advice of any kind.

The app is provided "as is", without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it.

You can stop at any time: delete your account from the You tab, on mobile or on the web. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. The store holds that, and you cancel it there.

We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, particularly the conduct rules above. If we make a material change to these terms we'll say so in the app before it takes effect.
